Tesla’s first quarter safety report: Autopilot accident rate is 1/9 of the US average

Recently, the safety of Tesla’s vehicles has also been questioned by many consumers because of frequent accusations of “out of control” caused by car owners. Moreover, Tesla’s Autopilot (automatic assisted driving) function, its reliability has not been accepted by all consumers.

However, as a mature company, Tesla certainly knows the power of using data to speak. And has used real data to strongly prove the reliability and safety of Autopilot.

A few days ago, Tesla released the “Vehicle Safety Data Report” for the first quarter of 2021. The report collects vehicle data and investigates the accident rate per mile under different conditions with assisted driving.

Since 2018, Tesla will release a vehicle safety report every quarter to compare the accident rate of whether the automatic assisted driving is turned on or not.The report shows that car owners who use Autopilot have an average of one accident every 4.19 million miles driven; car owners who do not use Autopilot but have active safety enabled have an average of one accident every 2.05 million miles;

Car owners who do not use Autopilot or active safety have an average of one accident every 978,000 miles; in the United States, one car accident occurs every 484,000 miles.

Compared with Tesla with Autopolit and active safety enabled, Tesla’s average mileage accident rate is about 1/9 of the US average.

One of the main thrusts of Tesla’s data is that, whether Autopolit is used or not and active safety is enabled, the average mileage accident rate of Tesla vehicles is the lowest.
