According to Omdia’s data,
in 2020, the total shipments of iPhone OLED panels will be 114 million, of which Samsung Display 89.6 million and LG Display 25 million.
By 2021, this figure will increase to 26 million U.S Dollars , an increase of 47.6% year-on-year.In terms of manufacturers, Samsung accounted for about 17 millionU.S Dollars, LG about 9 millionU.S Dollars, and BOE about 9 million yuan. The first two manufacturers increased by 22.8% and 100% respectively year-on-year.
In other words, in this year’s iPhone panel shipments,
Samsung’s share will fall from 78% to 65%, LG’s share will increase from 21.8% to 29.6%, and BOE’s only 5.3%, but it’s not easy to grow from nothing.
in the procurement of mobile phone OLED panels, Apple is the world’s first, Samsung is second with 22 million U.S Dollars , and Xiaomi will probably reach 9.5 million U.S Dollars this year, making it into the TOP3.
Although increasing suppliers of OLED panels
can guarantee supply, production capacity, increase risk resistance and cost effects for the iPhone, consumers may face a “lottery” issue. Last year, the iPhone 12’s green screen problem was raging. In the end, the LG panel with the screen code GH was regarded as the worst quality control and became the target of public criticism.
