WhatsApp has recently added a number of useful features, one of which is to allow you to remove audio from video before sending it to chats or adding it to WhatsApp statuses. The feature is currently running on Android.

If you want to share a video on WhatsApp without audio, the video mute feature can be useful. Until now, you had to rely on third-party apps to edit audio on a video, but now you can use the mute video feature directly within the app.
How to use WhatsApp’s video mute feature
- First, install the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android device from Google End. If you can’t find the silent video icon, chances are you haven’t found this feature yet, as WhatsApp is slowly releasing it on Android.
- Open any WhatsApp chat.
- If you want to record a video, tap the attached icon below and tap the camera icon, or tap the gallery icon to select the video.
- The video will now appear on the screen and you can edit it here. Tap the speaker icon at the top left to remove audio from the video. Once done, you can share the video on WhatsApp without audio.
WhatsApp has not yet revealed a timeline for when the mute video icon will be available on its iPhone app, so if you have WhatsApp on your iPhone, you need to get this feature. Will have to wait a while. For more tutorials, see the “How” section.
