The impact of Denso’s fuel pump defect continues.
According to foreign media reports, Honda Motor said that it will recall about 761,000 vehicles worldwide to replace fuel pumps that may malfunction and cause engine problems.
The country with the most models involved this time is the United States, which reached 628,000 vehicles,
covering various models of Acura and Honda brands from 2018 to 2020, including Accord, Civic, CR-V, Fit, Pilot, Ridgeline, MDX, RDX and TLX etc.
The reason for the recall was imperfect resin molding conditions during the manufacturing process of the fuel pump impeller, resulting in insufficient impeller resin density.
The impeller may be affected by the fuel to swell and deform, and interfere with the fuel pump housing,
causing the fuel pump to work poorly and unable to supply fuel to the engine. In extreme conditions, the engine may stall during vehicle driving.
However, Honda also said that so far it has not received any collisions caused by fuel pumps.
In recent years, defective fuel pumps produced by Japanese parts giant Denso have led to large-scale recalls of many Japanese models.
In the domestic domestic market,
many Japanese automakers, including Guangqi Honda, Dongfeng Honda,
FAW Toyota, GAC Toyota, Changan Mazda, FAW Mazda, and GAC Mitsubishi, have all fallen into the door of a recall due to fuel pump defects.
It is unclear whether the 761,000 vehicles recalled by Honda worldwide will affect the Chinese market.
