The following original story was reserved for posterity, as it was written on March 5th, when Prosser first released the information.
Google’s upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 5a, may launch soon. I was expecting it to come out in August, a year after the Pixel 4a, but due to a new leak, it is set to go on sale in June instead.
The leaker for this is definitely John Prosser, who has a mixed track record, but he’s often the right person than most. Prosser said in a simple tweet: “A new Google phone is scheduled to be launched on June 11, 2021. I am not sure exactly which one is yet.”
It’s not clear where Prosser got the information from, but as a mass leaker, Google may have multiple sources of inside information. The actual phone that will be released has no name, but Google is waiting for the affordable A-series phone to be released before the next iteration of the flagship, so it can be inferred that it is not a Pixel 6. Therefore, the Pixel 6 will not be shown until the Pixel 5a is released.
You have to wait for what happens on June 11, but the build-up to this date is very likely to cause more leaks. The date may coincide with the Google IO conference in June, but the date has yet to be confirmed.
Google’s first cheap phone?

The fact that the Pixel 5a is released earlier than expected may not be surprising in future Pixel 5 presentations.
The Pixel A series usually consists of midrange mobile phones. Midrange handsets have adopted some specifications from the named premium flagship series of handsets, but cut some specifications in other areas.
However, with the Pixel 5, Google has introduced its flagship product to the midrange, so if the Pixel 5a is actually an affordable version of the Pixel 5, it turns out to be a cheaper smartphone than the Pixel 4a.
This is just a guess. Currently, there are many unknowns on the Google Pixel 5a and we are all looking for it to be cleared on June 11th. Of course, unless the processor is wrong.
The tipster also added that the company will launch the new Pixel Buds true wireless earphones in mid-April.
