Recently, some media have exposed a set of real shots of FAW Toyota’s Highlander. The new car is basically the same as the overseas brand-new Highlander XSE version (which can be regarded as the Highlander sports version), except that the LOGO on the front of the car has become Crown.
It is reported that the new car will be unveiled at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, which opens this month, and is expected to be put into production in September.
From the picture, the front face shape of FAW Toyota Crown-Lufang is obviously different from that of GAC Toyota Highlander. First of all, the shape of the air intake grille adopts a hexagonal design. The most eye-catching place is the crown logo, which continues The inheritance of the former Crown sedan.
The taillights are the same as the new generation of Highlander, instead of using penetrating LEDs with a particularly strong design sense, they conservatively use a slender taillight group design to echo the headlights.
Sister model of GAC Toyota Highlander
As the sister model of GAC Toyota Highlander, the Crown-Lufang has also been lengthened, its length and width are as high as 5015/1930/1750mm, and the wheelbase is 2850mm.
Although the interior of the new car has not been exposed so far, it is speculated that the change with Highlander will not be too great. The central control screen area adopts an integrated physical button layout, and the size of the touch screen is divided into 8 inches and 12.3 inches. The function layout below is similar to the latest RAV4.
According to Toyota’s practice, the two cars will be built on the same platform. The Crown-Lufang will be developed based on the Toyota TNGA-K platform. The power is equipped with a hybrid system consisting of a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine + electric motor. The transmission system is expected to match E -CVT gearbox.
According to the previous environmental assessment information, the planned annual production capacity of Crown-Lufang is about 50,000 vehicles, and the average monthly target sales volume is about 4,000 vehicles, which is similar to Angke Banner and Explorer.
Coupled with the 90,000 production capacity of GAC Toyota Highlander, the total production capacity of the car in China will reach 140,000.
