Another Apple prototype has been exposed online, this time the protagonist is the original iPad.
Some foreign netizens exposed pictures of the first-generation iPad prototype on the Internet and introduced in detail a mysterious port on the left side of the device.
This port seems to be just the second 30-pin connector. Initially, Apple planned to use a dual-base system on its first tablet. The second port is on the left side of the device. Obviously it supports simultaneous charging.
According to Zompetti, the port was removed in the later DVT development phase. As a reference, Apple’s hardware development usually goes through EVT (Engineering Verification Test), DVT (Design Verification Test) and PVT (Production Verification Test) and other stages.
This is not the first time we have heard that Apple intends to ship the iPad 1 with two dock connectors. One of the prototypes was actually put up for auction on eBay in 2012. Reports over the years have shown that Jobs cancelled this idea when it was closer to the release of the iPad.
Now Apple has realized this idea through the Smart Connector interface on the iPad Pro series, which is also data + power supply, and the keyboard name has become Magic Keyboard.
